Obituary of Anthony F. O'Malley
Anthony F. "Tony" O'Malley, age 97, formerly of Voorhees, peacefully crossed over into God's arms, on March 20, 2018, at his daughter's residence, surrounded by family. Beloved husband of 66 years to the late Edith Ogden O'Malley. Devoted father of Anthony (Debbie) of Hendersonville NC, Michael (Terry) of Smyrna DE, Eileen of Voorhees NJ, Dennis (Eva) deceased of Marlton, Donald (Debbie) of Hayesville NC, Timothy (Helen) of West Chester PA, Kenneth (Mary Anne) of Leesburg VA, Anne Miller (Bearge) of West Chester PA, and Steven (Wendy) of Westmont NJ; Grandfather to 60; Great Grandfather to 44; and Great-Great Grandfather to 1.
Anthony was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific on the USCGC Bibb. Following the war, he returned to the Philadelphia area where he worked as an electrician, IBEW Local 98, for more than 40 years. Raising the family of 9 children in Westmont, NJ, he was deeply engaged in parish life at Holy Savior church, and Westmont Little League sports. In 1978, they relocated to Voorhees, NJ where he was, again, deeply involved in parish life, and campus maintenance, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
A humble and deeply religious man, nothing made him happier than having his family gather for special occasions. Next to his grandchildren, the other passion in Anthony's active retirement was working with the children with disabilities, at the St. John of God Community Services Center.
Family and public visitation will be on Sunday night, from 6pm-8pm, at the Giosa Funeral (171 Haddon Ave, West Berlin, NJ). Then again, on Monday morning, from 9:30am-11:15am at St. Simon Stock RC Church (178 W White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ). A Mass of Resurrection will take place at St. Simon Stock, at 11:30am. Interment will follow immediately, at New Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family requests memorial donations to the St. John of God Community Services (http://www.sjogcs.org), 1145 Delsea Drive, Westville Grove, NJ 08093.
