John A. Acton, III, age 72 years, of Berlin, NJ, passed away suddenly on December 10, 2018. Beloved husband of Carole A. Acton for 33 years. Devoted father of Scott Parker (Susan) of Langhorne PA; Brian Parker (Kim) of Berlin, and Neill Parker of Haddonfield. Treasured grandfather of Heather (Josh) Wolf, Jessica Parker (Myles), Alanna, Deklin, Justin (Stephanie), Olivia and Rachael Parker. Cherished GG Pop of Parker and Lincoln Wolf.
John majored in the French language at Union College in KY. He served his nation for four years in the US Navy during Vietnam war time.
Having had model railroads as a passion all his life, John was one of the very few select, lucky individuals who grew up to be able to make both a hobby and a profession from his childhood toys. He was an avid model railroader entertaining friends, family and especially delighting his grandchildren with his intricate reproductions. He was a long time member of the Model Railroad Club of West Deptford. He also pursued a career as a train dispatcher, working for various RR Lines over the years, the last being the Norfolk Southern based out of Harrisburg PA. John lived his life loving first, his family, and then "the Rails".
John's memorial mass will be held on January 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark's at the Crossing 131 West Malaga Road, Williamstown, NJ 08094. Fr. Wedderburn will officiate.
