Flora N. Young, nee Niessner, 98, on October 13, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Albert Fletcher Young, dear mother of the late Dale Albert Young. Daughter of Herman F. and Mattie (Schiller) Niessner. She was predeceased by her siblings, Herman, Gladys and Elmer Niessner. Flora grew up in the Cramer Hill section of Camden, a neighborhood she loved and of which she had many fond memories. After thirty years of service with Bell Telephone/Verizon in Camden/Collingswood, she enjoyed thirty-eight years of retirement with time to enjoy and participate in the lives of her family.
Flora was the beloved mother of Leslie (Halderman-Young) Short and loving mother-in-law to Albert E. Short, at whose home she passed away. She will be greatly missed by her grandson, Glenn G. Freeman, his wife Ryoko and their three sons, Kanoa, Kahale and Keigo in Japan. Her dearly loved granddaughter, Rebecca, wrote of her: "She was a beautiful person, always ready to help us. Her hugs were soft and warm. She taught me organizational skills, how to clean a house "properly." She told me stories about ice boxes, vacations in a crank car. We went to see every classic Disney movie together. I watched her lips move as she read American Girl books to me. She taught me to make cheesecake. She supported me and encouraged me. At the end, it was always love that mattered."
We thank her for everything she gave and taught us. Funeral arrangements private for the immediate family. Interment at Bethel Cemetery, Pennsauken. Condolences may be posted to www.giosafuneralhome.com.
