Ann E. Hesek (nee Steger) of Marlton, NJ courageously fought Aplastic Anemia for 27 months and passed peacefully on May 10, 2017 at the age of 77. Predeceased by her parents, John and Sybilla (nee Drexel); her brothers, Rev. John J., Robert, and Eugene Steger; her brother-in-law, Dr. David Hesek, and her beloved husband, James, who passed away in 2011. Loving mother of Sybilla Whearty (Michael) of Fairfax, VA; Christopher Hesek (Anne) of Kennett Sq., PA; and Julie Goldschmidt (Edward) of Marlton, NJ. Dear grandmother of Brian, Edward, Justina, James, Alexandria, Benjamin, Michaela, Sean and David. Loving sister of George Steger (Nancy) of Spencerport, NY and sister-in-law of Roberta Hesek of Brockport, NY. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, Coco.
Ann Graduated Holy Family School, Rochester, NY '53; Our Lady of Mercy High School, Rochester, NY 1957; LeMoyne College '61 BS in Biology. She received her RN from Northampton Community College, Bethlehem, PA '74 and her BS in Nursing from Gwynedd Mercy College '78. Ann started as a Labor and Delivery nurse. She has worked at Easton Hospital in Easton, PA; Winchester Memorial Hospital in Winchester, VA, West Jersey Hospital Berlin, NJ, and finally for 31 years as the Night Shift Administrative Nursing Supervisor at Virtua Voorhees Hospital. Ann has been called " a nurse's nurse". In her retirement, she enjoyed daily Mass, believing it was a nice way to start her day. She enjoyed her twice a year trips to Florida, her trip to Europe, and her frequent visits to her Pocono home. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and counted cross stitch. She made beautiful counted cross stitch Christmas ornaments annually, for her 9 grandchildren for over 10 years. Along with her memory, her ornaments will be treasured always.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on May 24, 6-8PM at Giosa Funeral Home, 171 Haddon Ave., West Berlin, NJ 08091 and again on May 25, 9:30-10:30 at Christ the Redeemer Parish/Assumption Church, 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr., Atco, NJ 08004. Her funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
