Elwood L. "Woody"

On June 18, 2010, age 85, at home in Stratford surrounded by his family.
Beloved husband for 59 yrs.to the late Regina "Jean" M. (nee Ehrlich). Devoted father of Terry Tomkinson and Sandra Tallant both of Audubon, Judith Berger of Sarasota, FL, Jeffrey and Donna Tomkinson of Stratford, Stephan and Renee Tomkinson of Sebastian, FL and Susan and Ron Benson of Lawnside. Loving Pop-Pop of 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Ruth Parkinson of Gibbsboro, John Tomkinson of Cody, WY, Anna Wilmer of Laurel Springs and Joan Yowell of Smithville, brother-in-law of Paul and Marsha Ehrlich of Kalispell, MT, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Woody was born and raised in Laurel Springs. He graduated from Laurel Springs Elementary School and attended Overbrook H.S. He was a decorated Navy Vet. of W.W.II serving as a Gunner's Mate on the LST #938 in the Pacific. Married Jean in 1947. He returned to the family business, Tomkinson's Service Station, started in1944 with his father and brother.  He retired in 1986 and sold the business to his son. Stratford honored Tomkinson's as the town's oldest  family-owned business, now in its fourth generation. After retiring Woody enjoyed carpentry, making gifts for family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday 9:30 to11 am at the Giosa Funeral Home, 171 Haddon Avenue, West Berlin, where his funeral service will be held at 11 am. Cremation will be private. Woody's family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 521 Fellowship Rd. Suite 110, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
