Courtney, Dennis McKelvey Of Lake Gilman, Elk Twp. formerly of Haddon Hts. died on February 3, 2010, at the age of 67 after a courageous battle against brain cancer. Beloved husband of Mary K. (nee McCandless) for 43 years. Devoted father of Karen E. Courtney and husband Stephen Roberts of Phila., Christopher B. Courtney and wife Gail of Collingswood, Anna M. Courtney and husband Owen Collins of Lexington, VA, Jennifer T. Shoemaker and husband Jim of Norristown, PA and Sean M. Courtney of Phila. Loving grandfather of McKelvey, Arden and Liam Courtney-Collins, Jimmy and Colin Shoemaker; Dear brother of James S. Courtney, Jr. of Bloomfield, MI, Patrick Courtney and wife Judy of Bellevue, WA and Mary Synk and husband Don of Satellite Beach, FL. Dennis was born and raised in Detroit, MI. He earned his B.A. and M.A. from Wayne State Univ. , in Detroit and his PhD. from Ohio State Univ. in Industrial Psychology. He was a professor at the Univ. of New Haven, West Haven, CT, becoming Chairmen of the Psychology Dept. He and Mary then moved to this area and settled in Haddon Hts., where they lived for 20 years. He then held the position of Human Resource Manager at both RCA, Camden and Fischer & Porter in Warminster, PA. For the past 15 years Dennis has been the CEO of Andrews Glass Comp. the position he held at the time of his death. For the past 10 years Mary and Dennis have lived on Lake Gilman in Elk Twp. Dennis served his Lord as both a Lector and an Extraordinary Minister at both his parishes, St. Rose of Lima and St. Bridget, he has been a member of Cursillo of South Jersey and the Prison Ministry. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Monday Feb. 8, 9:30 to 11:30 am at St. Bridget Church, 125 Church Street, Glassboro, where his Memorial Mass will be celebrated Mon.at 11:30 am.
